Applications are invited for a post-doc position in the group of Dr. Christoph Merten, using cutting-edge microfluidic technology in the biomedical field. In particular, we are looking for a candidate who will further develop our personalised cancer therapy platform (Eduati et al., Nat. Communications 2018). Making use of microfluidic technology this platform enables to test tens to hundreds of drug combinations directly on live human tumour samples. We now plan scaling up the approach, integrate imaging and next generation sequencing as further readouts, and validate the resulting system in comprehensive mouse models (patient derived tumour models).

Your role
You will be leading a scientific project with high impact in biomedical sciences. Your will learn how to use droplet-based microfluidic systems for personalised cancer therapy, perform next generation sequencing experiments and high content imaging analyses. We expect the work to result in high impact scientific publications with you as a main author. Furthermore you might become an inventor on patents resulting from technology development.
You have
We are looking for outstanding applicants holding a university degree in biology or experimental medicine.
High motivation and enthusiasm to work within an international team.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
You might also have
Prior experience in microfluidics, imaging technologies, next generation sequencing and animal experiments is advantageous, but not absolutely required.
