Tom Cruise Hasn’t Been Seen With His Daughter In 5 Years, And Now We Know The Reason Why

Throughout much of his career, Tom Cruise, 56, has been one of the most popular actors of all time. That means a lot of people are interested in what he does and what he says. They look up to him, both as a role model and as an icon. But now the truth about Tom Cruise is coming forward as it concerns his non-existent relationship with his daughter Suri.

Because his relationship with Katie Holmes turned sour over the years, it was thought that he was not allowed to see his daughter. But that just isn’t the case. You might remember Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch when he first was excited to marry Holmes. Things are much different now.

After just six years of marriage, Cruise and Holmes split in 2012. Critics think that Scientology played a role in their breakout because Cruise has been obsessed with the religion for years. But it also could be the case that his religion is affecting how close he gets to his daughter.

A source close to the family told US Weekly that Cruise has visitation rights to see Suri, now 12, at least ten days each month. Cruise decides not to use that time with his daughter. Additionally, it is unclear if he has even seen Suri in years because the last time they were photographed together was in 2013.

“Every person is allowed to see their child if they wanted to,” the source said. “He chooses not to because she is not a Scientologist.”

The source said that Cruise and Holmes have outline custody of Suri clearly in their divorce agreement.

Tony Ortega, a vocal critic of Scientology and former The Village Voice editor-in-chief, thinks that Holmes sign “some nondisclosure agreement saying she wouldn’t say anything bad about Scientology” in exchange for custody of their daughter. This may only be conjecture, but it does not seem too far from the possible truth.

“She wanted to get away, and she wanted to get Suri,” he explained.

Ortega also worries that Holmes was forced to stop associating with friend Leah Remini who was once into Scientology but later became a vocal critic. The religion is very strict with what its members can and cannot do.

Hollywood Life asked Rick Ross, the founder of The Cult Education Institute, to shed light on Scientology and Cruise’s affiliation with it.

“What happens in Scientology is that they have a category of people which they call Suppressive Persons or SPs. Scientologists are taught to avoid being around Suppressive Persons or SPs,” Ross explained to HL. “A person who hangs around an SP is often regarded as a Potential Trouble Source or PTS. And Scientologists are asked questions when they go through spiritual counseling, called auditing, about perhaps encountering people in their life who are SPs. They are asked questions to identify who are the SPs in their life and who might be a PTS,” the cult expert continued. “If someone is designated as an SP there is a disconnection policy in Scientology where you actually disconnect from that person.”
