THE CAST IS A BIG REASON AS TO WHY THE FILM DID WELL

It takes more than good marketing to make a movie do well. It takes good acting. Anyone can make a movie with acting in it, but if the acting is terrible, then no one will watch it because of the bad reviews. It takes the entire cast to come together on this one. You need to make sure that everyone understands the goal at the end, once that's done, you can set smaller goals.

When a good cast understands this, then the film will have good acting. It also helps that the cast has some members that have acted in hit shows that are known around the world. Having a popular and actually good cast is essential to any film's success.

THE CAST MAKES YOU FEEL CONNECTED TO THEM ON A DEEP AND EMOTIONAL LEVEL

Via Trailer Addict

The main characters of this film connect with you. What happens in the film will make even the most emotionless people feel something. It's amazing as to how deep someone can get in one scene by just how they show their face when saying words. It makes you think about your life and the mistakes that you've done and if you should've done something different.

The cast delivers their acting with a lot of grace, and they go through things that allow the viewers to think about their own lives. Even the dad apologizing to his son for jokes, even when he was not meant to be harmful, allows people in the audience to sit and think about the things that they say. This movie, and the cast teaches you how to be a better person.

JOSH DUHAMEL THE HIPSTER DAD

Via The Daily Beast

You've got to admit it. Even the trailer shows us that this guy knows how to be a dad. He's the kind of dad in the film that everyone wants. In the movie, he makes amazing jokes, and though he is seen as one of the "manly men" fathers at the start, you actually see him as a very emotional person. He cries for how much he loves his family, more than once, and addresses his son's coming out with much compassion.

Josh himself delievered beautifully in the role. Although critics have not always been kind to him in the past in concerns of his movies, it is safe to say that this is definitely his best role.

JENNIFER GARNER BLEW AUDIENCES AWAY

Via E! Online

This is so true. This screencap, from the film is one of the most highest praised moments from fans, and brought everyone to tears. It is what made people on Twitter say: We want that mom.

The scene was quiet and careful, it was after Simon had already come out. Garner, who plays his mother and a psychologist, addresses the scene not as a doctor, but as a mother. Her now famous line "You get to exhale," has made it's mark on young people struggling to come out to their own parents. She holds her son in her arms and loves him no matter what, and her entire speech to him had the audience weeping.

KATHERINE LANGFORD IS THE BEST YOUNG DRAMA ACTRESS

Via StyleCaster

She played in 13 Reasons Why. That was a very emotional show, it made people cry, and it made people want to help out others. The main part of that drama was her. Katherine Langford, someone who played the role so well she needed to be in this film. Once again she did not disappoint.

She did her role with a level of exceptionalism that is hard to come by. She has a talent for playing characters in this area. It's not easy to have to create a mindset of which you're going to be playing a character in. She does a very good job at it.

3

THEY EXPRESS HOW SO MANY OF US ACTUALLY FEEL

The entire cast plays very different people, and as a viewer, you can definitely relate to at least one of them. Whether it be a friend, family member or even acquaintance. They give the tools to the viewer without them even knowing.

You start to think about their choices, what they're doing and how they choose to go about certain situations. What they do to make themselves feel good about their life. They connect to the audience on a level that hasn't been often felt. It requires a level of skill, a level of skill in public speaking to be able to indirectly tell someone something while also laughing, or crying.

2

THE CHARACTERS AREN'T TOO DIFFERENT FROM THE BOOKS

Via Tas Imagery

If you're someone who actually reads books you would know that everyone pictures someone in their head when reading, especially if there isn't a photo associated with it. Even if there is a picture, people don't always feel like the character is shown properly. The movie solves that problem.

Nick Robinson is someone that makes the character feel alive. He makes the character of Simon Pier feel moving and real. It's more than just him though, it's every character, they just feel like they have the right look for the role. It's hard to imagine other people who could do such a good job, especially now that this movie is making headlines.

THEY HAVE EXPERIENCE AND KNOW HOW TO ACTUALLY ACT!

via 20 Centrury Fox Film, YouTube

Most of us hate it when an actor doesn't have the experience needed for a role. It really sucks, they don't know how to manage a situation and it's just all around unfortunate. However, this cast has worked in dramas before and know how to manage themselves successfully to ensure the scene gets done in the best way possible. Acting is a skill that requires a lot of effort and time.
