With no end to the government shutdown in sight, the Red Sox reportedly will postpone their planned White House visit until May.
The Boston Globe cited two sources Friday in reporting that the traditional visit for the World Series champions will now take place sometime during the team's May 6-8 series at Baltimore.
They had been scheduled to fly to Washington from their spring training base in Fort Myers, Fla., on Feb. 15, two days after pitchers and catchers are set to report to camp.
Whenever the Red Sox eventually visit President Donald Trump, it's unclear whether manager Alex Cora will join them. He recently expressed concern about the administration's policies toward Puerto Rico and indicated he might not make the trip.
