The former Horned Frogs athletics director will assume the same role with the Longhorns for both the men's and women's programs.

"It is with a heavy heart I announce the time has come for me to take on a new challenge," Del Conte said in a statement addressed to TCU. "I have accepted the position as Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Texas."

Del Conte will replace Mike Perrin, who has been the interim AD for the school since September 2015 after Steve Patterson was fired. He was earning roughly $700,000 annually with the Horned Frogs, and now he is expected to earn about $1 million with Texas.

Del Conte has been with TCU since 2009, where he oversaw a football program that went to the Big 12 Championship this past season.

Under Del Conte's leadership, the Horned Frogs also defeated Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl in 2011, and the baseball team has gone to the College World Series the past three seasons.

Del Conte also oversaw more than $300 million in renovations to various athletic facilities throughout TCU.
