The Red Sox can win the World Series tonight behind David Price (16-7, 3.58 ERA) as they square off with the Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw (9-5, 2.73 ERA) in Los Angeles (8:15 p.m., FOX).
About Game 5: The last away game of the year could be Boston’s last game altogether if Price can do recent Price things and the offense can knock around Kershaw like they did in Game 1. That it’s Price who’s in this position is almost too good to be true, narratively, even if we all expected Chris Sale tonight. On the L.A. side, all hands are on deck for the Dodgers, so who knows what we’re going to get on the pitching end if Kershaw should falter... outside of, maybe, a World Series title.
The lineup is almost the same as it was yesterday, at least to start. The only change is Rafael Devers starting at third base and batting seventh instead of Eduardo Núñez. Brock Holt plays second and jumps to sixth in the order. The Dodgers have a modified version of their all-righties lineup, with Cody Bellinger and Joc Pederson taking a seat but Max Muncy staying at second base and batting fifth. The big move is that of Enrique Hernández, who homered last night and will play center and bat third.
About Game 4: No one could hit for half the game, and then no one could pitch, and the Sox survived an iconic Yasiel Puig home run (and Eduardo Rodriguez glove-throw) by staging a historic comeback over Rich Hill, Craig Kimbrel and the Dodgers, 9-6. Follow-up question: Did you know Hill only throws two pitches? People forget that.
