Tenaga Nasional Berhad, the national body that manages the electricity supply for the country has been on the roads doing public relation exercise, after citizens complaint about the high electricity they have been receiving after MCO.
People have been getting bill shock trauma after seeing their bill reach levels that they can comprehend, one complainant wrote to us and said he received a RM10,000 bill while others have also claimed to have received incomprehensible amounts. TNB has refuted these claims and clarified its methodology in prorating electricity usage base on users track record and derived with the billable amount. People are not convinced.
Energy Minister has called on TNB to explain to the public in detail on the surge, now Cuepecs the union for civil and public workers has voiced its concern on the high electric bill. Its President Adnan Mat claimed the estimation done by TNB is confusing and many people dont understand. He hoped the government owned company will reconsider the discounts it has given and further help to ease the burden of Malaysians during these trying times.
The government has given electricity bill discounts to all households during the MCO lockdown, but with many under house arrest, presumably the usage has also increased. Many were not expecting to receive higher that usual amounts and are now feeling the pinch.
