He frequently collaborates with his brother Shawn Wayans.

Marlon Wayans was born in New York City, New York, USA.
After completing high school, he attended Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Marlon’s father, Howell Wayans, was a supermarket manager and his mother, Elvira Wayans, was a homemaker.
Wayans was raised in the housing projects of New York City, the youngest of ten siblings.
Packed into a small apartment in the Fulton housing projects on the West Side of Manhattan, the family came up from very humble beginnings and struggled to get by.

Although he grew up in a household already crowded with successful entertainers, Wayans has learned and is still learning from his family.
“I’m happy to do what I love and do it with who I love,” he said.
Asked whether it ever gets difficult being directed by his older brothers, Wayans responded,
“My brothers have been telling me what to do my whole life, but at least I’m getting paid for it now!”

"At the end of the day, the person that you had those children with, you love and love dearly. And I always will," Wayans said. "I'll always have nothing but love and respect for that woman. I think of her as my family."
