Welcome back! Did you enjoy your All-Star break? Did you miss watching the Knicks play basketball?
Well, the Knicks definitely played basketball tonight. Problem is, they didn’t play all that well, at least not after a scorching hot first quarter. When all was said and done tonight, the Knicks lost, 115-104 to the Timberwolves.
Don’t let that distract you from one of the best Knicks dunks of the year, though:
Dennis Smith Jr. looked like he took out a little dunk contest frustration on that one. He wound up with only seven points and seven assists (and five turnovers), though, with Emmanuel Mudiay’s return eating into his minutes.
Speaking of Mud, he had his moments, but definitely looked pretty rusty overall after a few weeks on the shelf. Definitely more of a Bootiay performance tonight with 16 points on 6-16 shooting to go with one assist and four turnovers.
Here I go burying the lede, though... Damyean Dotson had the Knicks’ first 11 points, and 18 points in the first quarter! It was a crazy performance.
Unfortunately, Dot cooled allllll the way down after that, only scoring two more the rest of the way.
Allonzo Trier clearly ate his Wheaties over the break too, dropping 20 points on 7-11 shooting.
That’s... basically it for tonight. Mitchell Robinson had three blocks in 13 minutes, but also he only played 13 minutes.
