TV Ratings: Bahrain GP, Silverstone WEC

Racer

Easter Sunday was a relatively quiet weekend for racing, with only Formula 1's Bahrain Grand Prix and the Silverstone World Endurance Championship opener posting numbers.

Shifted to CNBC for the Sunday morning telecast to make room for Premiere League Soccer, the Bahrain GP scored an 0.25 rating and averaged 413,000 viewers. While down from a 0.40/578,000 last year when the race aired on NBCSN, that's a decent number for CNBC. The replay on NBCSN later in the day brought in another 231,000 viewers, fairly typical for a same-day repeat F1 telecast.

For comparison purposes, the Chelsea/Manchester United soccer match on NBCSN at the same time as the live Bahrain GP telecast scored a 0.48 rating and averaged 816,000 viewers.

The WEC six-hour at Silverstone topped out at 57,000 viewers for the finish on Fox Sports 1 (rating numbers were unavailable). Earlier segments on FS1 and FS2 scored about the same, averaging 33,000 and 31,000 viewers, respectively.
