A good-looking woman from Britain has been jailed 3-years in Egypt on the count of smuggling banned drugs into Egypt.
Laura Plummer, 33, was arrested after 300 painkiller tablets, Tramadol, were found in her possession on October 9, 2017. Laura had claimed that she had no idea that the drugs were illegal. She was apprehended after arriving at the Red Sea resort of Hurghada for a holiday with her Egyptian partner.
According to her statement, the tablets found in her suitcase were meant for the treatment of her boyfriend, Omar Caboo, who suffered back pain. However, the painkiller tablets which are legal on prescription in the United Kingdom are actually banned in Egypt.
According to Laura’s family, her lawyer had to lodge an appeal on her case. Her mother, Roberta Synclaire, has expressed shock over the verdict. According to Roberta, who was in court for the hearing, ‘it's difficult and I can't believe it after waiting for two months.’
Roberta also told how Laura had been moved to another detention center ahead of her onward move to prison. According to her sister, the family is hoping that through the appeal by her lawyer, the accused will get probably half of her sentence; ‘Anything less than three years. She doesn't deserve that,’ she said.
