Author Luanne Rice to visit Fairfield U. Bookstore
International bestselling author Luanne Rice comes to the Fairfield University Bookstore on Thursday, July 13, to discuss and sign copies of her new young adult novel, “The Beautiful Lost” (Scholastic).
The New York Times bestselling author of 32 novels has written “a sweeping story of a girl and boy, both troubled in different ways, who take off on a whirlwind road trip up the East Coast,” the bookstore said in its announcement.
Her books have been translated into 24 languages. “Several of Rice’s novels have been adapted for television, including ‘Crazy in Love’ for TNT, ‘Blue Moon’ for CBS, ‘Follow the Stars Home’ and ‘Silver Bells’ for the Hallmark Hall of Fame, and ‘Beach Girls’ for Lifetime.” Rice, of New York City and Old Lyme, is an “avid environmentalist and advocate for families affected by domestic violence, the bookstore added.
“In ‘The Beautiful Lost,’ the most personal novel in her long and storied career, Luanne Rice deftly uses her experiences with depression to craft a lilting and surprising story about the vagaries of the human heart,” according to the bookstore.
“On the roads through New England, Maia and (travel partner) Billy learn truths about each other that are equal parts enthralling and distressing.”
