Stamford man charged in downtown fight

Stamford Advocate

STAMFORD — A city man has been accused of breaking another guy’s jaw with a sucker punch outside a downtown restaurant.

Malcolm Chalmers, 24, of Hope Street, Stamford, was charged this week with second-degree assault and held in lieu of a $25,000 court appearance bond.

Sgt. Chris Broems said police were called to Brother Jimmy’s BBQ on Bedford Street on May 7 for a man who said he had a broken jaw. The man said he was punched when he tried to break up a fight, Broems said.

Broems said the victim identified Chalmers as the man who hit him.
