Ryan Roberts answered several questions about some of the Hurricanes going into the 2020 NFL Draft.
Ryan Roberts, a scouting coordinator from NFL Draft Bible answered a few questions about the Hurricanes and the upcoming draft.
1. Which Hurricane do you think improved his stock the most at the combine?
“It’s K.J. Osborn for me. There is a safeness to his game. He is a pretty well rounded kid and can do a lot of the dirty work. That 4.48 in the 40 was a great number for him. There’s nothing flashy about him but I think he could be a guy who finds a way to stick in the league for a long time.”

2. What are your thoughts on Miami’s linebackers, Shaq Quarterman and Michael Pinckney
“I like Quarterman for what he is. As a first and second down run stuffer, sign me up. There just isn’t anything dynamic or special about him. I don’t think he’s ever going to contribute much on passing downs but there is absolutely a role for him. As for Pinckney, I’m not a fan. He’s undersized and slow. There are just so many limitations to his game. I’m not sure what to buy into there.”

3. Which Hurricane was the most disappointing at the Combine?
“Most disappointing had to be edge Trevon Hill. I expected so much from him coming over from Virginia Tech. His 2019 film just wasn’t great. He showed up in the 240s and ran slow. He’s a tough guy to bet on right now despite the flashes you get occasionally.”

4. You just wrote an article on Gregory Rousseau, what are your thoughts on him?
“As a person, Rousseau is awesome. He was well spoken and extremely humble for a player of his caliber. As a player, he’s my early favorite to be the first selected edge rusher in the 2021 class if he enters early. I gave him a Jason Pierre-Paul comparison on tape. This kid has first round pick written all over him and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was top 10 his time next year.”
Miami ran Gregory Rousseau on the interior at points last season. He dominated there. They ran him as a pure DE, he dominated there. There was nothing he couldn’t do.

5. In your opinion, where does Rousseau land in the 2021 Draft?
“I’ll go safe and say first round if Rousseau declares. The ceiling is even higher than that though. You don’t often see players of this size with that amount of movement skills. It’s a really rare skill set.”

6. Have you scouted Brevin Jordan much?
“Yes, I have not done a deep dive yet but I am well aware of Brevin. He’s firmly in the top of the 2021 class with Pat Friermuth (Penn State) and Kyle Pitts (Florida). Jordan can be used in so many different ways. You don’t usually see players this big getting thrown bubble screens. He’s an athletic freak for the position.”

7. What do you think of D’Eriq King and him in next years Draft?
“I’m very mixed on D’Eriq King. I studied him last summer and I wasn’t a huge fan, especially compared to some. He’s an awesome college quarterback, there’s no debate there. I imagine he’ll put up some incredible numbers for the Hurricanes. I am just not sold on him as an NFL passer. I’m hopeful I see big improvements in 2020.”
