UVA is Final Four bound. Haven’t you heard?

What a weekend it was for the Virginia Cavaliers men’s basketball team, who returned to Charlottesville as heroes on Sunday afternoon, as they advanced to the program’s first Final Four since 1984 with a 80-75 comeback win over the Purdue Boilermakers in overtime, thanks in part to Mamadi Diakite’s game-saving bucket in the lane. Want to relive the final moments of what was the NCAA Tournament’s best game so far? We’ve got you covered.

Former Virginia star Justin Anderson followed up the Hoos’ victory on Saturday with a great performance of his own, scoring a season-high 24 points to go along with 12 rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the Atlanta Hawks’ overtime win over the NBA-leading Milwaukee Bucks, 136-135.

For his excellence on and off the field, senior captain Ryan Conrad was named one of ten finalists for the 2019 Senior CLASS (Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School) Award on Friday. Conrad, who is UVA’s first finalist since 2014, has scored twelve goals and had ten assists through the team’s first ten games.

Junior sharpshooter Kyle Guy, who shot an impressive 46.3 percent from three-point land prior to NCAA Tournament, connected on just three of his first 26 attempts from beyond the arc through the Sweet 16. That “slump” ended in the Elite 8, however, as Guy lit up the opposition with five threes on the day.
