With Endgame providing a more-than-fitting end to the third phase of the MCU, it’s time to start looking ahead to what’s next.
Game of Thrones is also approaching its closing episodes – as the final chapters on two entertainment-defining pieces of pop culture come to an end.
The future could see both things combining though – with Richard Madden reportedly in talks for a major role in The Eternals.
The Wrap broke the news, suggesting that the Thrones and Bodyguard star could be set to appear alongside Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani.
Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, The Eternals are a race of ancient human beings, created a million years ago by cosmic entities known as Celestials.
There’s no word on who Madden could play in the movie, though people are already speculating that he could feature as the immortal Ikaris.
Following the immense success of BBC’s Bodyguard, Madden has been touted for a number of high-profile roles – including the next 007.
The show’s first series was the most-watched BBC drama in a decade, with the finale being the most-watched piece of TV drama ever with a record 17.1million people glued to their TVs.
However the show clearly took its toll on Madden, who says he was left in a bad place while filming.
He said: “It really took it out of me. I didn’t get to see my friends, my family, do anything. It’s a relentless job, it’s an unhappy place.
“At the end of filming I had just gone, ‘What am I doing this for? I’m supposed to be doing the thing I love.’
He did go on to say the work was worth it in the end though.
“I had to take a break for a couple of months and get myself back.
“And after I did get myself back a bit in my head, then you’re like, ‘OK.’
“Then seeing the rough cuts coming through of it, I was like, ‘This is something I’m really proud of actually.’”
