Fresh off the back of the incredible third season of Stranger Things, Caleb McLaughlin is set to join Idris Elba’s hotly anticipated new project.
The actor, who plays Lucas in the hit Netflix series, has joined the cast of Concrete Cowboys, which Elba will be producing and starring in.
Inspired by Greg Neri’s novel, Ghetto Cowboy, the film will follow teenager Cole, played by McLaughlin, who is taken to live with his estranged father Harp, played by Elba, in North Philadelphia.
Cole discovers the city’s urban cowboy subculture, based on the real-life Fletcher Street Stables, a black urban horsemanship community which flourishes despite the surrounding poverty, violence and threat of gentrification.
Also joining the cast is When They See Us’ Jharrel Jerome, who is currently up for an Emmy for his role in the harrowing documentary.
Lorraine Toussaint (The Village) and Byron Bowers (The Chi) will also co-star in the film.
