The Auckland Tuatara signed off their maiden Australian Baseball League season in style, by claiming their first series victory in their final game of their campaign.

After winning their double-header against the Melbourne Aces across the Tasman on Friday night, the Kiwi side required one win from the two remaining fixtures in the series on Saturday night.

Having battled hard in the early game, the Tuatara ultimately went down 4-2 after the hosts blew it open when scoring four runs in the top of the fifth.

But come their final hit-out of the season, the visitors were able to turn the tables, coming up trumps 8-3, thanks to a tremendous performance from starting pitcher Jimmy Boyce, who threw well over 100 pitches.

Colorado Rockies infield prospect Taylor Snyder (2-3) was the standout offensively, smacking a three-run homer to left centre in the fourth while also showing off his defensive skills with a couple of spectacular plays to throw a runner out at first.

Outfielder Zach Clark (2-3) continued his hot streak to end the campaign with a three-run bomb in the bottom of the second to put the Tuatara on top. The Milwaukee Brewers prospect led the side in home runs through the season with six.

The series victory sees the Tuatara finish with a 14-26 record, bottom of the four-team Northeast Division. Five sides of the eight in the competition make the playoffs.
