Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman's TV characters were both involved in school scams

Loughlin was released on bail yesterday for $1.458m (US $1million), and Huffman for $365,000 (US $250,000).

Huffman's Desperate Housewives character Lynette Scavo found herself in a similar situation when she and husband Tom (Doug Savant) tried to get their twins into elite private school, Barcliff Academy.

During the season one episode, the couple end up donating $15,000 to secure their sons' spots, after the principal tells them their "children's educational background is a bit more common than we would prefer."

$15,000 is coincidentally the same amount of money Huffman allegedly fronted to to improve her daughter's SAT score.

Lori Loughlin's Full House character Aunt Becky also partook in some application flourishing during season six of the sitcom.

The scam emerges when Aunt Becky and Uncle Jesse (John Stamos) are trying to get their sons into Bouton Hall, "one of the best pre-schools in the Bay Area."

Joey encourages Jesse to give the boys' application "a little edge," to which Jesse responds, "I'm their father, if I don't lie for them, who will?" before writing that the boys are "unbelievably lingual".

When the boys get an interview, Becky says she "has to be honest", before admitting Jesse "lied" on the application.

The school lets the boys in, saying the lie shows Becky and Jesse "only want what's best" for them.

Despite this, Becky and Jesse decide Bouton Hall isn't a right fit and decline the offer.
