This man’s story proves that it is never too late to do the right thing when it comes to our health. He is a call center boss who finally decided that he was tired of being overweight. Instead of putting off his diet and exercise regimen until tomorrow, he decided to attack his transformation with a unique level of fervor. He walked 6,000 miles in just two years!
Dave Lancaster allowed himself to balloon to nearly 500 pounds over the course of his life and was well known for his daily junk food binges. The aforementioned walks gave him the chance to shed roughly two thirds of his entire body weight. He has come a long way from his days of not being able to walk for a few moments without immediately running out of breath.
His 66 inch waistline is now gone and so is his collection of 8XL shirts. While he had been diagnosed with Type II diabetes before the weight loss occurred, his efforts allowed him to reverse this diagnosis. Dave’s decision to shed all of the excess poundage took place after he finally became tired of the litany of health problems that he was experiencing.
Sleep apnea, gout, joint pain, and high blood pressure were just a few of the problems that he was forced to endure. All of the physical suffering that he was enduring were turning him into a recluse. He could no longer participate in the activities that he enjoyed without experiencing a great deal of pain. His world had begun to shrink as his body continued to expand.
Dave now appreciates all of the little things that he could not actually do before. Train and bus seats are no longer such a tight squeeze. He no longer has to worry about the strain that his body places on pieces of furniture. Buying clothes has never been easier. By the time he reached the peak of his walking routine, he was covering 10 miles per day.
As a result of his efforts, he has now been named the Slimmer of the Year at his call center. He looks to share recipes and ideas with others who are looking to drop a few pounds of their own. Dave is more than happy to let the world know that he could not have done this on his own. He credits his awesome staff with helping to guide him. Be sure to share this inspirational story with others.
