Research confirms Apple dominates the US teenage smartphone market

Android may dominate the smartphone industry globally, but Apple maintains a stranglehold in North America, particularly amongst adolescents – a fact new consumer research has confirmed.

Android is the most popular operating system on the planet. It powers nearly three billion devices worldwide, and well-and-truly dominates the smartphone ecosystem. Apple continues on undisturbed by this fact, however, as their line of iPhones continues to themselves dominate the premium echelons of the phone market, particularly in North America.

Newly-released ‘Stock With Teens’ consumer research conducted by Piper Sandler on US adolescents, examining various industries including smartphones, has brought these circumstances to new light, finding an incredible 85% of phone-owning American teens own iPhones, and an extra 3% believe their next phone will be of the fruity variety.

Unfortunately for Google and their multitudinous partners like Samsung and Xiaomi, this commanding mindshare Apple reigns with will not be going away any time soon; Cupertino has managed to make their expensive brand an aspiration and a statement (of conformity) in itself. At this late a stage in the game it may not even be possible for Google or any other brand to overcome Apple’s renown, but if it is then they certainly are not achieving it right now.
