Another Trump Associate Refuses To Cooperate In Russia Investigation

A second person within President Donald Trump's inner circle has denied a Congressional request to participate in the Russia probe.

This time it's Michael Cohen, the president's personal attorney whom you'll probably remember from his CNN appearance when he asked, "Says who?" in response to a question about whether or not there would be a campaign shake-up due to Trump's poor poll numbers at the time.

"You say it's not a shake-up, but you guys are down, and it makes sense that there would — " CNN's Brianna Keilar started.

"Says who?" Cohen asked. "Says who?"

"Polls," Keilar replied. "Most of them. All of them."

Both the House and Senate intelligence committees invited Cohen to "provide information and testimony." Those committees are investigating any potential collusion between members of the Trump campaign and Russian agents during the election.

But Cohen passed. He said the request was "poorly phrased, overly broad and not capable of being answered."

Former national security adviser Michael Flynn also declined to participate in the investigation. He pleaded the fifth in response to a subpoena from Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr and Vice Chairman Mark Warner.

Cohen joins the list of former and current Trump associates identified in the investigation, including Flynn, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former foreign policy adviser Carter Page, informal adviser Roger Stone and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner.

Cohen could face a subpoena from the Senate Intelligence Committee, similar to what Flynn received. Flynn could be held in contempt of Congress if he does not cooperate with the investigation.
