John Alford and wife, Nancy Alford, victims of theft, arson, and murder
The North Carolina police are looking into a horrifying crime where a pastor and his wife, a Sunday school teacher, were assaulted inside their house, leading to one death. 76-year-old Nancy Alford passed away when the invaders tied up her husband and her inside their house and then set fire to the house.
John Alford, the pastor, escaped somehow. His neighbors had to forcibly subdue him from going inside the house to save and help his wife.
The incident started on Friday late evening when two invaders, masked, were waiting for the husband and wife duo to get back home. They beat John and one of the intruders stayed at home with him while the other forced Nancy to accompany him to an ATM located nearby. They managed to withdraw $1,000, the maximum allowed amount for withdrawal. After returning, the invaders tied the couple together and set their house alight.

Shelley Thompson, a neighbor, said that Alford’s face was swollen up and his nose was bleeding. John has second-degree burns amongst other injuries. This statement was released by Concord Baptist Association which is connected with Sanford Memorial Baptist Church. The doctors have said that the Alford will require skin graft surgery.
Pete Richardson, a local businessperson, expressed admiration of the couple who had been so unfairly victimized. The couple was always on the lookout for helping others. They had never been selfish or thought about themselves. It was always for the community. A special service was arranged on Sunday dedicated to the couple.

The gray 2010 Mercedes belonging to them was also stolen by the invaders. The investigation is underway for locating the car. The police have not released any statements so far. The son and the nephew of the couple had come over to see if they could do something. According to the nephew, the couple had lived there for almost 4 decades!
