An armed assailant drove an SUV into pedestrians on the Westminster Bridge in London on Wednesday. The attacker, armed with a knife, then stabbed a police officer near the Houses of Parliament before being shot and killed by police. Two people were reportedly killed on the bridge, while one police officer died in the ensuing scuffle, in addition to the assailant. Twenty other people were injured. "We are treating this as a terrorist incident until we know otherwise," London police said. House of Commons Leader David Lidington suspended proceedings for the day, and British Prime Minister Theresa May called an emergency security meeting Wednesday afternoon. A full counterterrorism investigation is underway.
