A new study from the folks at apartment-finding app ABODO confirms what we already know: Chicago is an downright expensive city. In a 2017 survey of median rent prices for one-bedroom apartments, Chicago weighs in at No. 9 with a price tag of $1,789. Looking for a two-bedroom pad? The median rent price in Chicago is $2,246.
As you might expect, one-bedroom rentals in San Francisco ($3,284), New York ($2,823) and Los Angeles ($2,075) have us beat. Incredibly comparable to Chicago rentals is Seattle, with the median single bedroom going for $1,754. If high rent rates have you looking outside of state lines, consider Detroit ($525), Indianapolis ($695) or Milwaukee ($824).
