A man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after falling from his kayak in a North Taranaki river.
Emergency Services were called to Manukorihi Rd, Waitara, about 4.20pm.
Constable Rob Keen said the man was pulled to shore by members of the public before being taken to Taranaki Base Hospital by St John ambulance in a serious condition.
A police central communications spokeswoman said it was believed the man had suffered from a medical event before falling into the river.
CPR was performed on the man once he was pulled to shore, she said.
