Bravery is indeed a rare attribute to portray especially when confronted with a dangerous situation like having a gun pointed to your face. It takes one to have the heart of a lion to act courageous in circumstances like that.
Rare as a feature as bravery is, we still find some people exhibiting this feature even in the most threatening situation. Such can be said for a heroic man in a cowboy hat waiting in line in Carnes Cares butcher shop in Monterrey.
In the shop, activities seemed to be going on as usual in the store; people were going about their shopping activities and the cashier was doing her job. What nobody knew was the impending danger that was about to turn the serene shop into a state of pandemonium.
A few moments from then, an unidentified man dressed in a dark colored sweat shirt with a hoodie was going to enter into the butcher shop with no intention whatsoever to buy any item. He was going to attempt to rob the shop and the customers of the shop.
When he stepped into the butcher shop, it did not take very long for his intentions were made known; he jumped into the front of the line and in a matter of seconds he brought out a gun from his Navy sweat shirt and aimed it at three people.
He first points the gun at the woman behind the checkpoint counter before he turns his attention to the front of the cash register where an older gentleman who kept a gray moustache and wore a cowboy hat was standing. Little did he know that this man was going to give him more than he bargained for.
The “cowboy” was very calm and did not flinch when faced with the gun. In fact he removed his glasses to get a better view of the scenery that was unfolding before his eyes.
At some point, a woman unwillingly created a distraction as she made her way towards the counter from the back of the store where she had been checking out refrigerated beverages.
Her movement drew the attention of the robber away from the cowboy to her making her the third target. This proved to be the perfect distraction for the brave cowboy.
He seized the opportunity and pounced on the robber and overwhelms him. The robber was taken by surprise and dropped his gun in the process. The cowboy held the robber to the ground, they wrestle, struggle and scuffle until they both stagger into a passage way, away from the camera.
Then an employee of the store is seen walking in. He retrieved the gun from the floor and ran towards the back of the store.
When the gunman is next seen, he had somehow managed to slip free of his sweat shirt and hoodie and is now shirtless. He tried to make his way to the door but did not make as the cowboy and two butchers catch him just before he reached the exit of store and pinned him down on top of metal shopping baskets.The police arrived the butcher shop about ten minutes after the incident and took the would -be robber into custody.
Thank goodness for the bravery exhibited by the cowboy without his courage, the story might have been an entirely different one.
