Plenty of Everton fans are in agreement over former midfield player Royston Drenthe after a throwback goal against Fulham circulated online between various Twitter accounts, including The Toffee Blues and the club’s official page.

Drenthe can be seen striking the ball first time with his left foot into the bottom corner from outside the box after being laid off by another former Toffee in Jack Rodwell.

The 33-year old racked up 27 appearances in all competitions for the club in his only season, where he scored four goals and provided seven assists, according to Transfermarkt. As per the website, Drenthe used to be on the books of Real Madrid, but now plays for Kozakken Boys in the third tier of Dutch football.

This is a dramatic fall from grace from a man who was described as ‘talented’ by many Evertonians under the posts, and these supporters were all in agreement that he ‘wasted his talent‘. One fan even labelled him a ‘missed bus’:

What a waste of talent.

Should a talented player just didn’t have the head for it

Should of been so much more. Wasted his talent and went AWOL just before the semi final derby. He would of made a difference in that game!!
