Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to footage of Nathaniel Clyne as he made his full return to first team training.
The Reds’ right-back has been recuperating at the club’s Melwood training complex over the past six months after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during pre-season, having spent most of his time at the club on the sidelines. Clyne also suffered a back injury before the start of the 2017/18 campaign which saw him miss the majority of the season. With both injuries combined, he has missed a total of 89 matches, as per TransferMarkt.
As a result, the former Southampton defender has fallen down the pecking order in Jurgen Klopp’s side due to the emergence of local hero Trent Alexander-Arnold. Indeed, the 21-year-old was a key figure as the Reds went on to win their sixth European crown last season and look set to lift the club’s first domestic title in 30 years.
Clyne posted a video on his Instagram of him back out on the training pitch and doing intense exercises as he nears full fitness. With his contract due to expire at the end of the season, the 28-year-old looks set to be released following a loan spell at Bournemouth during the second half of 2018/19. With this in mind, many Liverpool supporters were delighted to see Clyne return and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan loved watching him train again, while another does not want him to be released.
