Newcastle United: Fans slam Stan Collymore's takeover claim

Plenty of Newcastle United fans have slammed a takeover claim from former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker now pundit Stan Collymore after he expressed his feelings in his Daily Mirror column.

In his opening thoughts, the 49-year old talks about how it could be plausible for the likes of Donald Trump to go out and buy another English football club simply because he has the money to do it. He reminisces of a time around thirty or forty years ago when football clubs were owned by local people with their heart in the right place.

Collymore also boldly claims that some of the teams owned by states who have human rights records that are questionable, and that there is a moral vacuum around the beautiful game in England.

He takes a dig at members of the Toon faithful by saying that they do not care where the money comes from, as long as it is spent on Tyneside, and finishes off by questioning the potential new owners and how perhaps money should be spent in this current climate.

These NUFC supporters slammed Collymore’s comments on Twitter:

Poor @StanCollymore is gutted because he quite likes #nufc not competing like they were before Ashleys era, he hates to think we will be up there again, the same can be said for a lot of the southern media #nufc

“Fans Happy to just wave him in” states Collymore.

Yes we are. If it’s fine for the UK government to take billions from Saudi then it’s good enough for me #NUFC

Good. That means it’s definitely happening, because everything MA does is immoral.
