A lot of West Ham fans are excited at the prospect of young defensive midfielder Conor Coventry, after his performance for Lincoln City at the weekend.
The 19-year-old put in a solid performance for the League One side as they won 3-2 against Burton Albion at Sincil Bank (West Ham).
Coventry, who has played for the Ireland U21 team, was heavily involved in the first goal for Lincoln, and also made a great block at the other end to deny Burton a goal in the thrilling match. His performance was massively appreciated by fans of ‘The Imps’ and fans of West Ham have noticed this. Lincoln’s official account has also given Coventry the nickname ‘Irish Iniesta’.
Coventry moved on loan to Lincoln City in January and since then has made six appearances for the side (Transfermarkt). With Mark Noble coming towards the end of his football career, West Ham will be looking for a new defensive midfielder and it would be great for all associated with the club if it could be someone from their academy like Coventry.
Here are what fans have been saying about the player:
Conor Coventry, Nathan Holland and Jordan Hugill all tasted victory over the weekend.
Find out how all of our loanees got on…

Things appear to be going okay for Ireland U21 and West Ham United midfielder Conor Coventry during his loan spell at League One club Lincoln City. https://t.co/8ePuHpbJig

That Conor Coventry block when Burton basically had an open goal was as good as a goal at the other end.
Had a slow start but Coventry is turning into a right player.

I cheered it like a goal. Watch where he ran from and the sense for danger- absolute natural baller (as the younguns might say).
