Twinkie Town Talk: The Squirrel Edition

Twinkie Town

LOOK AT IT GO | Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Oh, and let’s talk about fair food.

<could not translate from squirrel speak to English>

Here’s what you may have missed on Twinkie Town:

  • a preview of this week’s series on the docket for the Twins, which I may have jinxed
  • Boomstick returned from the IL
  • Zach compared a current Bomba Squad member to a famous Twins player
  • Spring Training schedule is out and Joel is taking us to a bunch of games (thanks again, Joel!)
  • a turtle is hitting bombas in rehab, among other injury updates
  • it’s squirrel week here in Twins Territory and TJ has some background info on the famous guy as well as a fresh t-shirt if you want to represent
  • the squirrel made an appearance not once, but twice, but not thrice, resulting in a series loss to the Pale Hose

Here’s what you may have missed outside of Twinkie Town:

  • a writer thinks the squirrel is an idiot and “nutmegged” is trending across the globe as a word that’s not a word
  • and we might not see the rally squirrel ever again
  • in non-squirrel-related news, the team is not promising that a prospect that everyone is clamoring for will see the bigs this year

Here’s what you may have missed in the baseball world:

  • one rival’s starting pitcher suffered a setback in rehab and is being shut down for a couple weeks
  • while the same rival has another starting pitcher who was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year starting rehab, which is awesome to see
  • an American Association team is getting the boot from their stadium, but both the team and the league say they’ll stay in town
  • the Little League team from Minnesota fielded the only girl in this year’s World Series; she notched a ꓘ and made a great play off the mound

Discussion:

You probably won’t hear from me this weekend (please hold your applause until the end) since I’m taking my annual trip to the Great Minnesota Get-Together, a.k.a. the Minnesota State Fair. It begs the question: What’s your favorite fair food? If you’ve been to multiple state fairs, which one is your favorite?
