Andrew Miller? Bryce Harper? Rumors! Intrigue! - A Hunt and Peck

Viva El Birdos

Stuff!

So the offseason has begun, which means the rumor mill is turning. As of this point we cannot put too much stock into the different pieces of information swirling around.

Counterpoint: let us speculate wildly!

First things first. Bryce Harper reportedly turned down a huge offer from the Nationals:

Chelsea Janes
Important on Harper: Both sides considered this a respectful offer. It wasn’t insulting. It was unprecedented.

Keep in mind, this would be the biggest free agent deal by total money paid in the history of the four major sports.

A lot has to play out yet, that is for sure, but this is the type of offer Harper is commanding. That is noteworthy and might eliminate a number of potentially interested teams.

As there continues to be speculation about Bryce Harper and the Yankees, a well-placed source emphatically says: “It’s not happening. He’s not going to be a Yankee.”

Next up some directly Cardinals-related rumors:

Sources: #STLCards interested in Andrew Miller and are active in the reliever market overall. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Okay so... Andrew Miller is good and the it would not hurt for the Cardinals to have a left-handed reliever. To open the offseason with that type of signing - well, it does not seem like many fans will like it.

That is all I have for now. Until tomorrow!
