PIERREPONT — Colton-Pierrepont Central School District’s budget, which doesn’t change from last year’s budget, will allow instruction to remain relatively the same through savings in retirement contributions, energy and special education costs to offset other increases.
The tax levy will increase by less than a percent.
The school district will hold a budget presentation at 5:30 p.m. May 9 in the cafeteria. Voting will be held from noon to 8 p.m. May 16 in the school’s auditorium lobby.

QUOTABLE
“We know that this level of conservative budgeting will not always be possible, so we are working to look farther into the future. We hope that this conservative fiscal approach will help the district to continue the minimal tax levy increases that we have seen recently for years to come.” — Colton-Pierrepont Central School District Superintendent Joseph A. Kardash, speaking on the lack of change in the 2017-18 school budget for his district
