GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies have arrested a man in connection with a shooting at the White Horse Flea Market on June 17.

Greenville County deputies said the man who was shot during the incident that Saturday is expected to recover.

According to the incident report, deputies found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to the arm and chest outside the flea market.

Deputies said an altercation has occurred between at least two people, and one opened fire. The circumstances surrounding the altercation remain unclear.

The male victim, later identified as 30-year-old Brandon Henry, was taken to the hospital and initially listed in critical condition. On Monday, deputies said the victim's condition had been upgraded to stable and that he was expected to recover.

Henry's family spoke to FOX Carolina on Wednesday and said he is unable to speak after the shooting but has written messages to them. The case also remains a mystery for his sister, Brittany Henry, who is fighting for answers.

She said she heard about the shooting on the news and never thought the victim would be her brother, who has since required two emergency surgeries and a breathing tube.

According to Brittany Henry, Brandon Henry wrote a message saying the incident all began as a misunderstanding about a woman.

"It's nobody just talking," Brittany Henry said. "I believe they know what's going on but I guess a lot of people don't wanna get involved and just wanna let it go."

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office announced on June 28 that 32-year-old Jason Jamiah Brazel had been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Warrants state that Brazel shot at Henry with a handgun, striking him 3 times. According to warrants, Henry was unarmed and did not show any aggressive mannerisms.

Deputies said Brazel called 911 to report the shooting.

Brazel: "I just shot someone."

Dispatch: "Ok, do you see an officer ‘cause there’s an officer in the area?"

Brazel: "No, I don’t see anybody here yet."

Dispatch: "Ok, what’s your name, sir?"

Brazel: "My name’s Jason and we’re at the jewelry store."

Dispatch: "Ok, what’s the name of the jewelry store?"

Brazel: "It’s Priceless Customs."

The warrant also said that the injuries Henry sustained during the shooting indicate that Brazel did attempt to kill Henry.

Brazel posted on Facebook Wednesday, stating that he was acting in self-defense.

"Everyone that knows me knows that I wouldn't have shot anyone unless I felt like I had to."

Brazel went on to say, "I'm not the type of person that would cause harm to anyone unless threatened. I help any person that I can and always show love first. But that doesn't mean I'm not a man and won't protect myself."

Brazel was released on $50,000 bond on Tuesday.
