CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
A fire is under investigation at an old school building near uptown Charlotte.
Arson investigators were called late Tuesday night to a school on Prince Hall Avenue near Statesville Avenue, where smoke could be seen pouring out of the building.
The Charlotte Fire Department says the school has been vacant since January, and they believe the fire may have been intentionally set.
Extra firefighters were called when a second alarm was issued, around 12:34 a.m.
The fire remains under investigation.
