PELZER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greenville County judge has sentenced a Pelzer man to 30 years in prison for sexually abusing a minor over a ten-year period.

Solicitor Walt Wilkins said the sentence was issued Wednesday after a jury convicted Dwayne Tallent, 47, of criminal sexual conduct with a minor first degree, criminal sexual conduct with a minor second degree, lewd act on a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Evidence presented at the trial revealed that Tallent molested the victim between 1991 and 2001 while the victim was between 5 and 14 years of age.

Evidence also showed that Tallent gave his minor children marijuana, openly used drugs around his children, and taught his sons how to make crack cocaine in the family home.

Tallent must serve at least 25 years and six months in prison before he is eligible for parole.
