Industry Moves: Nine West, Frye Parent Names New Chief Strategy Officer

Aug. 20, 2018: Authentic Brands Group has appointed Daniel Dienst as its executive vice chairman and chief strategy officer. Dienst has served as chairman and CEO of four public companies during his career including, most recently, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. He also currently serves as a director of Knoll Inc. In his new role, Dienst is charged with helping to shape ABG’s long-term strategy, leading the company’s global business development and driving the corporate focus on media, digital strategy and content monetization, among other duties. ABG is owner of and licensor for a range of lifestyle, celebrity and entertainment brands including Nine West, Frye, Juicy Couture, Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe.
Aug. 16, 2018: Reebok has announced the appointment of Kelly Hibler as GM of the Reebok Classics business unit. He was most recently VP of Nike Global Basketball Footwear and has been at the brand for 28 years in various leadership roles. In his new role, Hibler will lead the overall strategy for Reebok’s Classics business unit, including product creation, marketing, merchandising and channel segmentation. He will report to Reebok president Matt O’Toole. (After a period of softness, Reebok has been clawing its way back to profitability — thanks in no small part to a resurgence in its Classics business.)
Aug. 7, 2018: Crocs announced that CFO Carrie Teffner will step down from the company on April 1 after a transition period. Anne Mehlman will assume the role this month. She joins the team from Zappos.com, where she was CFO. Mehlman previously worked at Crocs for five years as VP of corporate finance.
Aug. 6, 2018: Nordstrom Inc. has hired Edmond Mesrobian as its chief technology officer. In this role, Mesrobian is charged with bolstering the department store’s strategy for leveraging digital and technology capabilities while expanding customer reach and engagement. He joins Nordstrom from grocery retailer Tesco, where he also served as CTO.
Aug. 6, 2018: Columbia Sportswear has hired Chris Adamek, who has been consulting with the firm since January, as its new VP and chief of staff for the Columbia brand. Most recently, Adamek served as VP for the Pacific Region at consulting agency North Highland.
Aug. 2, 2018: First Heritage Brands-owned Sonia Rykiel has named Perry Oostingas its new CEO, as first reported by WWD. Oosting will also continue in his role as CEO of French footwear brand Robert Clergerie, also owned by First Heritage Brands, the holding company headed by Jean-Marc Loubier. Oosting joined Robert Clergerie in April 2017 and has previously held management posts at Bulgari, Gucci and Prada. He succeeds Eric Langon, who had served as Sonia Rykiel’s chief since 2012.
